Commander of the Revolution Ramiro Valdes Menendez witnessed on  Wednesday the advances in the main works of the petrochemical project in the central province  of CienfuegosCommander of the Revolution Ramiro Valdes Menendez witnessed on Wednesday the advances in the main works of the petrochemical project in the central province of Cienfuegos.

The VP of the Council of Ministers praised the expansion of the Camilo Cienfuegos oil refinery, which will allow increasing the refining capacity of this facility.

He checked on the state of current works there such as the construction of four tanks with a capacity of 20,000 cubic meters each, which should be ready in the first quarter of 2010.

He also assessed the situation in the factory of elements for PVC houses, the expansion of a plant to produce plastic bags, with a capacity of 250 million units per year, and other ongoing projects.

Valdes Menendez, who is also the Minister of Computer Sciences and Communications, stressed the importance of work planning and also of fulfilling construction timetables.

He also highlighted the importance of an adequate selection and training of personnel, the efficient use of resources and rapidly finding solutions to problems.

During his tour around Cienfuegos province, Ramiro Valdes also visited the Miramontes settlement, neat the province’s capital, where 220 houses will be built, including 40 that will be ready before the year’s end.

He was accompanied by the Minister of the Basic Industry, Yadira Garcia; Misael Enamorado Dager, member of the Politburo of the Cuban Communist Party (PCC); and Jose Ramon Monteagudo Ruiz, First Secretary of the PCC in Cienfuegos.

He also visited the Company for Mechanical Solutions, in charge of fixing trucks for the construction industry, and he gave the closing remarks of the National Workshop of Housing Projects and Alternative Materials.
