Experts from 15 countries are attending the VI Photodynamics International Meeting on Atomic and Molecular Physics that began on Monday in the Cuban capital. Ricardo Franklin Megarejo, member of the event’s Organizing Committee, told ACN that these specialists come from Germany, Spain, United States, France, Great Britain, Italy, Russia, Switzerland, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, Mexico, Portugal and Puerto Rico.Lecture sessions are scheduled for the Comodoro Hotel until next Friday with the participation of personalities such as Professor Jesús Rubayo Soneira, head of Havana’s General Physics Department of the Higher Institute of Applied Technology and Sciences (INSTEC) - founded in 1987 -, who will give the first lecture of the event. Atomic and Molecular Physics is the branch of Physics that studies atoms and molecules. Besides INSTEC, there are other research groups at the Chemistry Faculty, the Materials and Reactives Institute, both at the University of Havana; and at the University Center of Pinar del Río. However, this kind of subject is not considered a specialty. In fact, professionals of several branches, including chemists, come together to study processes like the Ozone cycle, or its applications in Astrophysics, the creation of new materials or how some of them work. INSTEC is the University of the Ministry of Science, Technology and the Environment, an institution that promotes the integration process to obtain high added value products and services in a network that is uncommon in other countries.
