Venezuelan government will send on Monday tons of food and medicines to help the Haitian people after the earthquake that shook that Caribbean country on Tuesday.
Venezuelan Minister of Foreign Affairs Nicolas Maduro affirmed during a live contact with President Chavez on Sunday that a ship of the Bolivarian Alliance of the Peoples of our America will leave on Monday.

Maduro added during the contact with Alo Presidente television program that two ships of the Navy of Venezuela will depart to Haiti with 5 675 tons of food from La Guaira harbor (Vargas state) and Puerto Cabello (Carabobo state).

Venezuela sent 14 tons of food, medicines and water to Haiti on Sunday in a C-130 aircraft commanded by Venezuelan Air Force.

Chavez urged his US peer Barack Obama to send doctors and true humanitarian aid to Haiti instead of sending soldiers with war weapons to that nation that was devastated by the earthquake.

The leader acknowledged that unlike that, Cuba is in the vanguard of ALBA with the hundreds of doctors it sent to Haiti.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela called the people on January 13 to make donations that would be sent to Haiti.

A collection center was placed at the seat of the Ministry to collect drinkable water, non-perishable food, medicines, powder milk, clothes and shoes that can be sent to Puerto Principe, capital of Haiti.

Caracas sent a first contingent of doctors, rescuers, soldiers and firefighters on Wednesday to be at Haitian officials' disposal, who coordinate search and rescue.

A C-130 Hercules aircraft departed from that capital on Wednesday with 49 people aboard and 14 tons of tools, medicine, drinkable water and non-perishable food.

For 57 years, two generations of Cubans, that which preceded us and ours, which led both from the First of January 1959 until today, have fought against the most powerful empire ever known to mankind.
