| UN to Increase its Troops in Haiti |

United Nations will analyze Monday increase of soldiers and police of its Stabilizing Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH) to step up security in that country devastated by last Tuesday's earthquake. The increase decision will be discuss this Monday at the Security Council, reported the UN operations Chief for peace maintenance in Port of Prince Alan Le Roy. The objective is to increase the contingent in order to provide calm in Haiti streets which population is living on the roads since six days ago when the telluric movement registered 7 Richter scale degrees. Facing this earthquake MINUSTAH is made up of 9,000 soldiers, policemen and civilians from Argentine, Bolivia, Chile, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Spain, United States, Peru, France, Guatemala, Paraguay, Russia and Uruguay, among other countries. So far the UN has reported 40 casualties among his most outstanding workers in Haiti and 330 people missing during the quake. Among the deceased there is the MINUSTAH most relevant leaders the Tunisian Hedi Annabi, his second the Brazilian Luiz carlos da Costa and the UN Police Commissioner in Haiti the Canadian Doug Coates. The preliminary balance of local authorities raised casualties to 100,000 and in 3,000 the number of victims. During his Sunday's visit to Port of Prince the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon noted that the current priorities are to save life, distribute human aid (food, water, medicines, tents) and coordination of efforts. Ban reiterated the UN will lead that coordination among countries, non governmental organizations and international workers under the leadership of the Haitian government.
